This article is to determine a greener computing method for an office environment using comparative Streamlined Life Cycle Assessment (SLCA) of thin client verses thick client. To calculate the positive and negative environmental impact of thin client and think client, the understanding of its concept and fair bit of knowledge about its usability, architecture & few other constraints are must. From a short survey conducted on frequent computer users, I can put this fact with uttermost confidence that “more than 40% don’t have a clue ‘what is thin computing?’ and other “40% thinks its using LCD thin monitor instead of using traditional CRT monitors with there existing systems”. read more.

This article is the presentation of Eco-design strategy Ericsson should pursue to reduce their environmental impact under the development & implementation of UTMS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System). In simple words, one year of operation of the 3G pilot system is studied. The whole system consists of 3G terminals (i.e. cellular phones), a radio network with radio base stations (RBS) and radio network control equipment, and a core network with switches, routers, servers and workstations. LCA itself is the result of the evolution of early “energy analyses” performed by just a few industries in the past. These energy analyses automatically calculated the consumption of raw materials and generation of solid wastes. To answer this question lets peak into our daily life and the easy conclusion which most will reach is “no”, its impossible to paint life with most of the small to medium sized stuff missing from the bed room to the empty box shelves in our kitchen. Not only this, few computer addicts and car lovers will get as close as a heart attack. Not to mention big organisation like NASA and ISRO will go jobless.
